Halifax County CVB Wins Two Awards at State Meeting

At the Annual Meeting of Destination Marketing Association of North Carolina (DMANC) held June 1-3 in Asheville, NC, the Halifax County Convention & Visitors Bureau won two platinum awards.

The Halifax County CVB won the Best Destination Marketing Initiative for the newly redesigned www.visithalifax.com site. The tourism website underwent redesign during the latter part of 2007 by Bob Agoglia and Curry Roberts of The Computer Guy & Company with guidance from the CVB staff.

“The Computer Guy and Company works with several of Halifax County’s tourism attractions in addition to the Halifax County CVB, and we are happy to be such a large part of communicating Halifax County’s best attributes to the traveling public,” said Agoglia, President. “I’m ecstatic. I think it is fantastic that the website and Halifax County Tourism received this recognition,” said Roberts, Web Services Manager.

The Halifax County CVB also received an award for Best Niche Marketing piece, presented for a Media Profile sheet, featuring area attractions and designed in-house, for use at two media missions in New York and Washington DC this year and in all CVB media kits.

When asked about the CVB’s recent honors, Executive Director Lori Medlin said, “We’ve had lots of compliments from travelers and travel writers about the design and content of the website, but it is quite an honor to be recognized by our peers for our efforts to promote Halifax County. We are fortunate to have Christina Gordon as our Eco-Heritage Tourism Manager. The Niche Marketing award gave a nod to her writing and design skills.”
